Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Wordwell ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Wordwell. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

App Features and Services

Free Features

The following features are available to all users at no cost:

  • Access to 3,400+ vocabulary words in 5 languages (English, Chinese, Portuguese, Hindi, Arabic)
  • Daily word notifications at your chosen time
  • All vocabulary categories (Literature, Science, Philosophy, Business, etc.)
  • Word pronunciation with text-to-speech
  • Custom word creation
  • Word history (last 100 words viewed)
  • Up to 20 favorite words

Premium Features

Premium subscription unlocks:

  • Unlimited Favorites: Save as many words as you want (free users limited to 20)
  • Quiz Modes: Test your knowledge with Flashcards, Multiple Choice, and Spelling Tests
  • Ad-Free Experience: Remove all advertisements
  • Future Premium Features: Early access to new features as they're released

Subscription Terms

Important: Subscriptions are processed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store

All payments, billing, cancellations, and refunds are handled by Apple or Google, not by Wordwell.

Subscription Options

Wordwell offers the following subscription plans:

  • Monthly Subscription: Billed monthly at the price displayed in the App
  • Annual Subscription: Billed yearly at the price displayed in the App

Note: Prices vary by region and are shown in your local currency in the App. All prices include applicable taxes.

Auto-Renewal

All subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.

  • Your subscription will be charged to your iTunes Account (iOS) or Google Play account (Android) at confirmation of purchase
  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
  • Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
  • The renewal cost will be the same as the original subscription price unless pricing changes are communicated in advance

Managing Your Subscription

You can manage and cancel your subscription through your device settings:

iOS (iPhone/iPad)

  1. Open Settings app
  2. Tap your name at the top
  3. Tap "Subscriptions"
  4. Select "Wordwell"
  5. Tap "Cancel Subscription"

Android

  1. Open Google Play Store app
  2. Tap Menu → Subscriptions
  3. Select "Wordwell"
  4. Tap "Cancel Subscription"

Note: Canceling your subscription will stop future billing, but you will retain Premium access until the end of your current billing period. No partial refunds are provided for unused time.

Restore Purchases

If you reinstall the App or use it on a new device, you can restore your Premium subscription by tapping "Restore" in the paywall screen. This requires you to be signed in with the same Apple ID or Google account used for the original purchase.

Payment and Billing

  • All payments are processed by Apple (iOS) or Google (Android), not by Wordwell
  • Your payment method will be charged at the time of purchase confirmation
  • Subscription prices are displayed in your local currency and include applicable taxes
  • We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and verify purchase status
  • RevenueCat does not store payment information - only Apple and Google handle your payment details

Refund Policy

All refund requests must be submitted to Apple or Google, not to Wordwell. We do not have the ability to process refunds as all payments are handled by the app stores.

How to Request a Refund

Apple App Store (iOS)

Visit: reportaproblem.apple.com

  1. Sign in with your Apple ID
  2. Find your Wordwell subscription
  3. Select "Report a Problem"
  4. Follow the prompts to request a refund

Google Play Store (Android)

Visit: play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions

  1. Find your Wordwell subscription
  2. Select "Manage"
  3. Choose "Request a refund" or "Cancel subscription"

Refunds are subject to Apple's and Google's refund policies. Wordwell has no control over refund approval or denial.

User Responsibilities

By using Wordwell, you agree to:

  • Use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes only
  • Not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App
  • Not reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the App
  • Not use the App in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
  • Not attempt to circumvent any limitations or premium features

Intellectual Property

All content in the App, including but not limited to vocabulary words, definitions, examples, translations, design, graphics, and software, is owned by Wordwell or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may not use any content from the App for commercial purposes without express written permission from Wordwell.

Data and Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand our data practices.

Key Privacy Points:

  • Wordwell stores all user data (favorites, settings, custom words) locally on your device
  • We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data to our servers
  • Third-party services (RevenueCat for subscriptions, Google AdMob for ads) may collect limited data as outlined in our Privacy Policy

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Wordwell does not guarantee that:

  • The App will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
  • All vocabulary definitions and translations are 100% accurate
  • The App will meet your specific requirements
  • Defects in the App will be corrected

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WORDWELL SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.

Our total liability to you for any damages arising from or related to these Terms or the App shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months prior to the event giving rise to liability.

Changes to the App

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App (or any part thereof) at any time with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the App.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms.

Upon termination, your right to use the App will immediately cease. If you have an active subscription, standard cancellation and refund policies apply (see Subscription Terms and Refund Policy sections).

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Wordwell operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
